Maine Metro F.C. U-12 Boys Wins 2000 State Snickers Cup
June 3 - 4, 2000

Maine Metro F.C. boys U-12 team goes undefeated in 2000 State Snickers Cup finals in Brunswick, Maine over the weekend of June 3rd and 4th. Congratulations to the team for winning the state Region 1 Snickers Cup. The team had victories over Scarborough Premier 3-0, Maine Coast United 4-2, and Rising Sun 6-1 in the finals. Great showing by the team!

Snickers Soccer Tournament
July 1-5, 2000

Maine Metro competed well in the Region1 tournament in Rhode Island. The team lost to a strong Virginia club 5-0 to open the tournament. Subsequent games were also lost to Massachusetts (Western United) 5-0, and New Hampshire (Nashua World Cup Torpedoes) 3-2.

It was clear that our first two opponents had a lot more game experience than we had. The Metro team came close to a victory in its game against New Hampshire, but came up short in the final minutes. To improve our results at this level we must increase our game experience. We are taking steps to increase the number of full-field games to at least double what we played this year. Nonetheless, the team played well and showed tremendous promise for future tournaments. Congratulations to the team for an outstanding season! Especially for a first year team.
