MAINE METRO U-14 AND
U-18 BOYS TEAMS PLACE FIRST AT THE 26TH ANNUAL NEEDHAM MEMORIAL DAY SOCCER TOURNAMENT!
Congratulations to Maine Metro
FC boys for their outstanding championships at the
26th Annual Needham Memorial Day Soccer Tournament. MMFC won both the U-14 boys
premier bracket and the U-19 boys bracket at Needham. This is an outstanding
accomplishment and both teams should be commended on their accomplishments.
Our U-14 boys won all five
games (4-3 over Seacoast United (NH), 3-1 over Juventus USA (MA), 2-1 over South Shore
Blazers (MA), 2-1 over Yorktown United (NY), and 1-0 over Juventus USA in the Finals.
The team played outstanding soccer for all five games, like true Champions!
This is the third consecutive championship this group has had in Massachusetts tournaments
in three years. We are all truly proud of their continued success.
Our U-18 boys playing up in
the U-19 division were also undefeated through five games (1-0 over Stoneham (MA), 2-1 over Smithfield strikers (MA), 2-1 over TVU (MA), 2-1 over Manchester
United (NH), and tied 0-0 with Stoneham in the finals. The final game was called due
to weather, and both teams named Co-champions of the tournament.

Congratulations are also in order for our U-18 girls team
who also had an outstanding tournament, qualifying for the semi-finals on Monday, but
losing a very tight, well played game in the semi-finals. Great job U-18 girls!
Overall, MMFC had a great showing our first year at
Needham. We had three teams reach the semi-finals -- two Championship teams.
All other teams competed very well against the tuff competition. As noted by the
Needham tournament Director David Harris "You entered some very high quality teams
and they acquitted themselves very well. I hope all the kids, parents and coaches
had fun and enjoyed the great soccer. Hopefully we'll see some of your teams again next
year."
Thanks to all the players, coaches, and parents for a successful tournament!
