Testimonials

COERVER skills are a must for the player who is serious about soccer. The goals each camp strives for are to:

- Develop skilled, confident, and creative players.

- Make the game fun to practice and play.

- Teach good sportsmanship and respect for all.

- Value winning but not more than character and performance.

Side Image

COERVER believes that team systems and tactics are important, but they cannot fully compensate for poor control, inaccurate passing or other technical weaknesses. Ultimately, team organization is only as effective as the individual players in it. The COERVER philosophy is based on the premise that the game consists of sequences of play between 2, 3 and sometimes 4 players, in various parts of the field, and that a team's success is determined by player performances in these exchanges.

Consequently, COERVER coaching focuses on improving individual and small group play especially in the formative years.

We will work on the implementation of Ball Mastery skills consisting of repetitive ball control exercises using both feet; Receiving and Passing with an emphasis on the improvement of first touch, and to encourage accurate and creative passing; 1 v 1 Moves that teach game-winning individual moves and how to create space against packed defenses; Speed; Finishing; and Group Attacks that improve small group play with an emphasis on Fast Break Attacks.

CAMP OVERVIEW

Our camp training is designed to improve individual skills and small group play in a competitive and fun environment that encourages creativity.  Players will be challenged to learn exciting new techniques while fine-tuning fundamental skills. Sessions will employ Coerver’s system of “Graduated Pressure” which first builds confidence in a new skill and then isolates the skill in 1v1’s and small group games designed to transfer the skill to real game situations.   Proper technique will be stressed at every turn. There will be eight fast-paced one hour sessions and each will have a specific theme including:

  • Attacking Moves - To beat opponent and get to goal

  • Winning and holding space - to own the space around the ball

  • Change of direction moves - to create space when tightly marked

  • Stop start moves - to shake a defender on the run

  • Passing and receiving in tight spaces - to keep possession and get forward

  • Combination play - to break down defenses with quick passing movements

  • Finishing school - for the glory of scoring goals

  • Goalkeeper sessions

Ball Mastery
Exercises where each player must work alone with a ball, High repetitions using both feet.
Speed
Exercises and games that improve acceleration, running with and without the ball and changes of pace.
Receiving and Passing
Exercises to improve a player's first touch, so important at all levels and to encourage and teach accurate creative passing.
Finishing
Exercises and games that teach technique and encourage instinctive play.
Moves (1v1)
Exercises and games that teach game winning individual moves that can create space amongst the most packed of defenses.
Group Attack
Exercises and games that improve small-group combination play with emphasis on fast break attacks.

Each day you will be asked to work on all of the basic skills that are necessary to become a complete player. We will also put you into tactical situations to help you improve your overall playing ability and understanding of the game. Enrollment is limited on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Our Day Camp program features instruction for boys and girls beginning their soccer careers to those at a more advanced level of play. This year we will be offering training for young people 8-17 years old.
